Andy works on an estate called Hattersley on the East side of Manchester. Having worked in hospital psychiatry both locally and in Jersey prior to 'settling down' in General Practice 12 years ago, he has continued to follow his interest in psychiatry within the Primary Care Setting. His goal is to improve awareness of depression and other mental health issues amongst both service providers and the general public. "Setting up educational events for a multitude of groups including my own patients has been extremely rewarding. I have tried to improve access for my patients to quality information by setting up a depression stall at our local library, and forging links between our practice and the Depression Alliance has been of great benefit to our service users". The 'Hattersley Blues Train' initiative has been recognized by winning the NHS sponsored 'Health Challenge Award' and the Practice has also been shortlisted for the Lundbeck Depression Awards.
